Why I'm disappointed with Thor at the 'Avengers Endgame'

Why I’m disappointed with Thor? Because he gave up his kingship over the remaining Asgardians to join the Guardians of the Galaxy… Seriously, what the f**k man?!

Now don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Thor again on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or in any Marvel movie in the future. And the Avengers: Endgame is a fantastic movie. But what bothers me is after MCU preps Thor in three solo movies as the worthy leader of Asgard, he just decides to give it up to Valkyrie and gives a BS speech of how “it’s not who I am”. Then Valkyrie reciprocates with something like “Really? Ok, thanks!” just like that. Like, really MCU?

I understand that in the past movies, especially in Thor: The Dark World, Thor has made it clear that he didn’t wan’t to rule over Asgard. But it’s still his destiny though. And for the sake of those Asgardians who fought and died against the rule of Hela and the madness of Thanos, Thor must maintain his “worthiness” as the leader of his people especially in this tough times. After all what they’ve been through, now isn’t really the time for an “it’s not who I am” moment.

The remaining Asgardians are still on Earth as refugees working on menial jobs, they need their king to re-establish their kingdom.  Valkyrie is a warrior, and yes a leader, but what would the Asgardians think?

Now it’s not really clear whether Thor gave up his kingship in the literal sense or just had Valkyrie babysit the Asgardians. But how would they feel if they found out that their king went off on a space road trip and left them under someone’s care?

After all that prepping for Thor and all of those becoming-of-a-man moments, that’s just disappointing.
